College Baseball:
PCC evened its three-game South Coast Conference series with Rio Hondo College on Friday.
The Lancers got two runs in the top of the eighth and ninth innings to edge the Roadrunners, 5-3.
Toshiki Kuriya hit a solo shot in the second to give PCC a 1-0 lead.
Dylan Schumacher got RHC even in the bottom half of the second with a solo home run of his own.
Kuriya’s sac fly in the eighth scored Aryonis Harrison, and Ivan Barragan singled in Jake Trabbie as PCC regained the lead at 3-1.
The Roadrunners got even in the eighth on a wild pitch, and a George Sonora single that scored Joshua Perez.
Jakob Guardado, who has been incredible of late, had a two-run single in the top of the night that scored Harrison and Trabbie.
Harrison and Trabbie both went 2-for-4, walked and scored two runs apiece.
Guardado also singled and Ivan Barragan singled twice for PCC.
Bryan Garcia went six innings for Rio Hondo College and surrendered just one run on five hits.
He walked two and fanned three PCC batters.
The Lancers got two runs off David Medrano, and one each against Nicolas Masucci and Dominic Versluis.
Coleman Mitchell had another solid start for PCC, going seven and allowing one run on four hits.
Mitchell walked three and struck out one.
The Roadrunners got two runs on three hits over two innings off Rider Gardner, but Gardner was credited with the win.
Jonathan Zarate and Stephen Chavez doubled for RHC.
Aaron Gutierrez walked, singled and scored.
Joshua Perez singled and scored.
Up next: Rio Hondo College will visit PCC at Brookside Park on Saturday at noon.
