Maranatha appears to be cruising to their sixth consecutive Olympic League championship.
After Friday’s 11-1, five-inning beatdown of Village Christian, the Minutemen are two games up on Whittier Christian in the loss column, three ahead of Valley Christian, and VCHS is four back.
Zach Strickland went four innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits.
Strickland walked four and fanned six.
Jackson Hisey provided a scoreless and hitless inning of relief.
Hisey got two of his three outs via strikeout.
Cole Cacho-Negrete doubled, and Sean Cabrera singled to account for the Crusaders offense.
Cade Nightengale got lit up for nine runs on 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings.
He walked five and struck out a pair of Maranatha batters.
Dylan Zdunek went 2-for-4 with a double, run and two RBIs.
Eric Zdunek walked, singled and drove in a pair of runs.
Bryan Richman walked, singled, scored twice and had two RBIs.
Doug Zuniga walked, singled, had an RBI and run scored.
