Baseball:
Another game, another Baseline League victory for Damien.
The Spartans saw Justin Ries and Rudy O’Dell team up for a seven-hit shutout in Tuesday’s 4-0 victory over Upland.
Ries went four, allowing four hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out six.
O’Dell scattered three hits and didn’t walk or strike anyone out.
Julian McCord doubled for Upland while Andrew Ash, Martin Hernandez, Gavin Marquez, Joseph Chacon, Noah Garbick and Griffin Cunningham singled.
Ryan Harrison got the loss after allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over two innings.
Justin Dunn walked singled and scored for DHS.
Christian Grino singled, doubled and scored.
Ty Tancredi went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Tyler Daley singled and scored.
Jett Hernandez singled and had an RBI.
Daniel Serna singled and scored, and Nikko Paoletto drove in a run on a sac fly.
Up next: Damien travels to Upland on Friday and has a chance to claim a three-game Baseline League sweep.
