Chaffey Improves to 11-0 in IEAC Play After Tuesday’s 10-7 Victory at Desert; Clay Porter Drives in Three Runs

It certainly seems like Chaffey College has everything going its way.

The Panthers won their 11th consecutive game.

And they did so despite Desert out-hitting them, 16-6, on Tuesday afternoon.

Chaffey got four runs in the top of the sixth and three more in the eighth to claim a 10-7 victory.

Josh VerKuilen was credited with the win after going three innings and allowing two runs on four hits.

VerKuilen walked three and fanned three.

Brock Mayer closed out the win, going three innings and allowing just one run on four hits.

Mayer walked two and struck out one Desert batter.

Spencer Dickinson walked, doubled, homered and drove in three runs.

Antonio Crews went 4-for-5, with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs.

Jacob Mejia walked, singled twice, doubled and drove in three.

Graham Gonzales walked twice, had two singles and scored a pair of runs.

Beto Beltran went 5 1/3 innings for Desert and surrendered seven runs (three earned) on four hits.

Beltran walked two and fanned four.

Kenneth Schechter was charged with three unearned runs on two hits over 3 2/3 innings.

He didn’t issue a walk and struck out four.

Clay Porter doubled and drove in three runs.

Jacob Billings singled and scored.

Aaron Whobrey walked, scored and had two RBIs.

Austin Easter doubled and scored.

Steven Mara walked, singled and scored.

Michael Woodward singled, scored twice and had one RBI.

Eric Valdivia singled, had an RBI and scored.

Zach Kim walked, scored twice and had one RBI.

Up next: Chaffey travels to Desert on Thursday.
