Baseball:

St. Francis snapped a two-game skid in Mission League play on Tuesday.

And much of the thanks goes to Caleb Thatcher.

Thatcher tossed a five-hit shutout in the Golden Knights 3-0 victory at Chaminade.

He issued one walk and struck out nine Eagles batters.

It took Thatcher 112 pitches to finish what he started, and 77 went for strikes.

The Golden Knights out-hit the Eagles, 10-5, including a pair of extra-base hits.

Degan Hensley had two of Chaminade’s five hits.

Miles Ghossein, Matt Churchill and Nolan Mowry had one single apiece for the Eagles.

Charlie Decker got the loss, allowing two runs on seven hits over five innings.

Decker walked one and fanned 11 St. Francis batters.

Holden Deitch walked and hit a solo HR in the top of the seventh.

Lucas Dixon went 3-for-4, with a run and RBI.

Kalani Quiroz doubled and scored.

Dane Shepard singled twice, including an RBI base hit in the sixth to extend the SFHS lead to 2-0.

Jordan Lewallen, John Calmette and Brody Ruyle all had one single apiece.

Up next: If Mother Nature doesn’t interfere, the Golden Knights will host Chaminade today (Wednesday) at 3:30.
