Jared Day Goes 6 1/3 Innings & Allows Unearned Run in La Habra’s 3-1 Victory Over Charter Oak

Baseball:

La Habra snapped Charter Oak’s three-game win streak on Wednesday.

The Highlanders defeated the Chargers, 3-1, after getting two runs in the bottom of the fifth and one more in the sixth inning.

Jared Day went 6 1/3 innings to earn the win.

Day allowed one unearned run on four hits.

He walked two and fanned three COHS batters.

Matthew Viveros got the final two outs to earn the save.

Diego Ortiz walked, stole a base and scored the Chargers’ lone run of the game.

Josiah Martinez had the game’s lone extra-base hit with a double.

Chris Gonzalez, Moses Medrano and Nathan Arevalos singled in the loss.

Athen Malone had a solid outing, but got the loss.

Malone went five innings, allowing two runs on six hits.

He didn’t issue a walk and struck out three.

Spencer Carty went 3-fot-3, scored and drove in a run.

Bobby Fierro singled and scored.

Bobby Brooks singled and had an RBI.

Andrew Gandara and Viveros both had singles for the Highlanders.

Up next: The Chargers will travel to Los Altos on Friday at 3:30.
