Boys Basketball:
If there was one word that best describes the 2022-23 Bonita boys basketball program, it would be resilient.
The Bearcats entered the CIF-SS playoffs having lost six of their final seven regular season games.
And yet BHS made a D-3A semifinal run before falling to the eventual champs from San Gabriel Academy.
After 10 days off, Bonita made a 104-mile drive to top-ranked La Jolla Country Day in the CIF State D-3 playoffs.
The Torreys escaped with a 55-52 victory over the Bearcats, but Tim Godley’s program sure put up a valiant fight.
LJCD used a 13-8 fourth-quarter run to keep their season alive.
Josh Kim continued his excellence on Tuesday.
Kim had a team-high 17 points and hit three 3-pointers.
Colton Perez scored 10 points, and Hunter Smith added nine, including a pair of 3’s,
Anthony Aruffo had a game-high 18 points for the Torreys, and James Wei chipped in with 11.
Box Score:
Bonita: 11-19-14-8-(52)
LJCD: 13-13-16-13-(55)
