Quotable:
Glendora coach, David Hester: “Samantha has always been one of the most athletic and mentally tough competitors around. However, that has sometimes worked against her in the past when she gets impatient. The biggest improvement in her wrestling recently has been in her discipline to execute a game plan. She understands what the other coaches and wrestlers are trying to do to her and doesn’t fall into traps. She can adjust her pace and choices to match the situation much better now.”
San Dimas coach, Jesse Jaime: “Both girls wrestled with nothing to lose attitude. Juliana gutted it out and changed the pace to win it in OT. Kaley forced her opponent to make the little mistakes and capitalize off of them, ending it with a pin.”
Glendora sophomore, Sam Sachs: “My mindset going into my quarters match was that I had to put it all out there. I knew I needed to be disciplined and I knew I wanted it more than her. I believe that to win I was able to work through all of my positions and score whenever I was given the opportunity. I feel good going into tomorrow’s match, and by no means will it be easy, but I am going into the match ready and prepared. I’m going to leave it all out on the mat tomorrow. I know that my opponent is a very experienced wrestler and tends to go to lots of underhooks to set up her offense. I am excited to go out there and give it my best shot!”
