Boys Basketball:

It didn’t take very long to realize that Saturday’s CIF-SS Division 3A semifinal was a complete mismatch.

San Gabriel Academy came into Bonita’s gym and dominated throughout its 73-57 victory over the Bearcats.

The Eagles had a distinct size advantage, and at times, BHS looked like they were competing against college players.

In fact, SGA’s Mazin Lumori hit a 3-pointer less than 10 seconds into the game and the Eagles never trailed.

SGA had at least six dunks in Saturday’s contest, and they had an 11-7 advantage in 3-pointers.

The Eagles hit five 3’s in the first quarter and outscored BHS, 22-9, in the first eight minutes.

Jayden Mojica had a game-high 28 points, and Bourgeois Tshilobo chipped in 17 for SGA.

Josh Kim busted his butt throughout, and led Bonita with 14 points.

Hunter Smith hit three 3’s and finished with 12 points.

Colton Perez provided 10 points and Jordan Kenwood had nine.

Up next: The Bearcats will wait approximately 10 days before opening the CIF State playoffs a week from this coming Tuesday.
