Boys Basketball:
Damien has earned a spot in Tuesday’s CIF-SS Division 1 quarterfinal round.
The Spartans defeated visiting Colony, 62-49, in Friday’s second-round showdown.
DHS led by five at the half and then outscored the Titans, 33-25, in the second half.
Nate Garcia dominated again with 29 points.
Xavier Clinton made four of Damien’s five 3-pointers and finished with 16.
Colony’s Joseph Riggins had a team-high 16 points, including four 3-pointers.
Denzel Hines finished with 13 points.
Up next: The Spartans will travel to Manhattan Beach on Tuesday to battle Mira Costa.
The Mustangs (25-2) defeated Brentwood, 74-67, in their second round contest.
