Garcia Triples, Homers & Drives in 2 in PCC’s 6-5, 11-Inning Victory Over VVC; Esguerra Singled in Game Winning Run

College Baseball:

PCC picked up its fourth consecutive victory on Thursday.

The Lancers handed visiting Victor Valley College a 6-5 setback by getting three runs in the fourth, one in the eighth and the game winner in the bottom of the 11th inning.

Patrick Garcia is off to a hot start.

One game after hitting a 3-run shot, Garcia tripled, homered, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Jack Esguerra’s RBI single in the bottom of the 11th scored pinch-runner, Josh Hernandez.

Michael Duran went the first five innings for VVC, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits.

Anthony Lopez went the final 2 2/3 innings, allowing an unearned run on a hit and one walk.

Tommy Castillo singled, doubled and drove in a run in the bottom of the third to get PCC on the board.

Jakob Guardado singled, doubled and scored.

Jake Trabbie walked, singled twice, scored and had an RBI.

Ivan Barragan walked, singled and scored.

Coleman Mitchell got the start and went six innings.

Mitchell surrendered four runs (three earned) on nine hits.

He didn’t issue a walk and fanned two.

Ben Griffith and Tyler Mitchell both provided two scoreless innings of relief.

Neither Griffith nor Mitchell walked a batter and both struck out one VVC player.

Rider Gardner struck out the side in the top of the 11th and got the win after the Lancers scored in the bottom half of the 11th.

Andrew Lopez and Aaron Olivares both went 2-for-6, with a run and RBI apiece.

Juan Martinez had three singles and scored once.

Joshua Pennington went 2-for-4 and scored.

And Devenmarcus Rivera singled twice, drove in a run and scored.

Up next: The Lancers host Merced on Saturday at noon.
