College Baseball:
PCC won its third consecutive game of the 2023 season on Tuesday.
The Lancers started and finished strong in a 12-5 victory at Victor Valley College.
PCC got two runs in the top of the first, four in the sixth and five in the ninth inning.
With the Lancers leading 4-3, Patrick Garcia hit a three-run HR in a four-run sixth-inning, and the Rams were unable to mount a late comeback.
The Lancers got two runs (one earned) off starter Justin Cole on two hits and a walk.
And then Jesse Mauricio was touched up for five runs over 4 2/3 innings.
Mauricio was saddled with the loss, allowing three hits and walking four.
Garcia finished 3-for-3, with two runs and four RBI’s.
Damien Ureta singled twice, hit a solo shot in the sixth, scored two runs and drove in a pair.
Matthew Delgado singled twice and scored, and Amaris Harrison had an RBI single.
Aryonis Harrison walked, scored three runs and had an RBI.
Tommy Castillo walked twice and scored two runs.
Toshiki Kuriya had a two-run single in a five-run ninth inning.
Jake Trabbie walked, singled and scored.
Jack Esguerra walked three times and scored.
Ivan Barragan had an RBI fielder’s choice in the ninth.
Kyle Noell went the first 4 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits.
Noell walked one and fanned six VV batters.
Tyler Mitchell was credited with the win, going 2/3 of an inning to close out the fifth.
Nathan Mertens and Rider Gardner both went two innings apiece and they allowed one run each.
Neither walked a batter, Mertens struck out two and Gardner fanned one.
Davenmarcus Rivera singled, tripled and scored for Victor Valley.
Darren Atkinson had an RBI double.
Aaron Olivares singled twice, scored and had an RBI.
Up next: Victor Valley travels to Brookside Park on Thursday.
