Boys Basketball:
Glendora won a share of its first league title since 2015.
After knocking off Colony last Friday for the first time in 10 tries, the Tartans needed victories this week over Bonita and Ayala.
On Tuesday, GHS defeated the Bearcats, 52-40, which set up Thursday’s showdown with visiting Ayala.
GHS would outscore AHS, 37-21, in the second and third quarters and cruised to a 66-54 victory.
The win clinched a share of the Palomares League championship with Colony, as both programs finished 9-1 in league play.
And the hero of the night was junior, Elijah Regan.
Regan finished with a game-high 17 points, including four 3-pointers, and five rebounds.
It wasn’t just the four 3’s, it was when Regan hit them that made his play so valuable on Thursday night.
Ayala got a great effort from Jaden Gamez and Linus Lo, who combined for 27 points and seven 3-pointers.
Gamez hit four 3’s and Lo, who had the game-winning half-courter at Bonita, made three 3’s.
Colton Gray played big with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Dylan Victorio had 10 points for the Bulldogs, and Gavin Wolf chipped in with eight points.
Chris Lee contributed nine points, four rebounds and three assists in the win, and Ian Wang finished with eight points, which included a pair of 3’s.
