Boys Basketball:
Damien did its part on Wednesday to make Friday’s trip to Etiwanda worth everything for the Spartans.
DHS defeated visiting Rancho Cucamonga, 79-65, and improved to 8-1 in Baseline League play.
Nate Garcia scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Spartans.
Elijah Brown contributed 15 for Damien, and all 12 of Xavier Clinton’s points came from beyond the 3-point arc.
Jerimiyah Smith had a team-high 20 points for RCHS, while Aaron Glass chipped in with 18.
Shadale Knight hit three 3-pointers, and finished with 15 points.
Both Damien and Rancho Cucamonga made eight 3’s on Wednesday night.
Up next: Damien can earn a share of the Baseline League title if they can pick up a road victory at Etiwanda in the regular season finale.
The Eagles (21-4, 9-0) defeated Los Osos, 46-26, on Wednesday.
The tip is set for 6:30.
