Over the last 48 hours, Chris Lee proved to his teammates and coaches that he’s a warrior.

On Wednesday, Lee collided with an Alta Loma player on a loose ball that cost him eight stitches and swelling around his face and eye.

GHS coach Gordon Hamlow didn’t know until shortly before Friday’s first-place Palomares League showdown at Colony whether he’d have his junior guard in action.

After consulting with those who make important decisions for the health of their athletes, Lee put on a Hannibal Lecter mask and played the most consequential game of his high school career.

Lee scored 28 points against Chino Hills earlier this year, but on Friday night, he was a game-changer in Glendora’s 62-54 victory at Colony.

It was Hamlow’s first win in 10 tries against an athletic and well-coached Titans’ program.

Glendora led throughout, except for a few seconds at the beginning of the second quarter.

The Tartans led by as many as 11 points (29-18), but every time they started to pull away, the Titans quickly got back into striking distance.

With two games to play, GHS and Colony are tied for first atop the Palomares League standings.

Lee finished with a team-high 18 points, three rebounds and went 4-for-5 on 3-pointers.

Lee scored five of Glendora’s 16 fourth-quarter points.

Colton Gray played big with 17 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and drew three charges.

Landon Barragan finished with 10 points and four assists.

And Benji Holt clutched up and provided nine points, two rebounds and an assist.

Five of Holt’s nine points came in the final eight minutes.

Denzel Hines was the most dominant athlete on the court.

Hines had a game-high 22 points for the Titans, and that included five 3-pointers.

Hines, however, got in foul trouble and had just three second-half points.

Zack Moritz chipped in with 13 points and Jackson Cain had eight points for Colony.
