Girls Athlete of the Week:
With just two weeks left in the regular season, Marshall Fundamental remained the only Mission Valley League program without a loss.
This past week, the Eagles went 3-0 in MVL play, and didn’t allow a single goal.
Marshall claimed victories over Mountain View, Arroyo and Rosemead by a combined margin of 16-0.
The Eagles are now 8-0 in league games, and it appears they could all but lock up a title on Wednesday when they host second-place El Monte at 3:30.
Junior Esmeralda Jaquez had a monster week for MFSS.
Most soccer players would be thrilled to secure one hat trick (scoring three goals) in a game.
Jaquez was able to accomplish the feat this week.
In fact, she did it twice.
Jaquez scored three goals in both Tuesday’s and Thursday’s wins over Mountain View and Arroyo, respectively.
In Friday’s 6-0 victory over Rosemead, Skylar Atacador scored twice, and Delilah Vazquez had three assists.
