Boys Basketball:
Damien finished the second and fourth quarters in strong fashion on Wednesday night.
The Spartans outscored Rancho Cucamonga, 43-25 over that stretch, and defeated the Cougars, 64-53, in a Baseline League showdown.
Damien’s win sets up a first-place showdown with Etiwanda on Friday night in La Verne.
Nate Garcia had a game-high 22 points, and the Spartans sophomore scored 18 combined in the decisive second and fourth quarters.
Xavier Clinton hit three 3’s and finished with 21 points.
Aaron Glass led RCHS with 16 points and Shedale Knight chipped in with 15.
Up next: DHS and RCHS will both be in action on Friday.
The Spartans host Etiwanda in a first-place showdown, and the Cougars welcome Upland to their gym.
