But the Kares would outscore the Lions by 16 in the final three quarters and went on to a 57-40 victory.
Rainn Pollock had a game-high 19 points for RHP.
Alex Mustain chipped in with 11 points and Tyler Dang had 9.
Jasper Li paced the El Monte offense with 12 points.
