Boys Basketball:
Damien had nine days off since a two-point loss to Walnut at the Sunny Hills Tournament.
And the Spartans didn’t waste any time in putting Cal High away, opening Monday’s game on a 24-10 run.
Damien would go on to defeat the Condors, 66-38, in the tournament opener.
Nate Garcia had a game-high 17 points.
Eli Garner chipped in with 10 points, while Xavier Clinton added nine and Elijah Brown had eight points.
Darius Cabrera led Cal with 10 points.
Jayden Lauriano and Tyler Makasakit both had nine points in the loss.
Makasakit hit three 3-pointers.
