Bonita Defeats Troy, 56-43, to Claim El Dorado Tournament Title; Colton Perez Scores 15 Points & is Named MVP

Bonita might have started this past week on a sour note, but the Bearcats sure finished it in style.

On Monday, BHS lost a four-point contest to their rival and visitors from San Dimas.

Five days later, Tim Godley’s Bearcats claimed the El Dorado Tournament title by defeating Troy, 56-43, on Saturday night.

BHS earned victories over Charter Oak, Yorba Linda, Long Beach Millikan and Troy, respectively, to head home to La Verne with the championship trophy.

Colton Perez had a team-high 15 points and he was named the tournament’s MVP.

Josh Kim (13 points), Jordan Kenwood (11) and Jake Matsuo (11) combined to score 35 points.

Collin Henry and Hunter Smith had three points apiece, while Drew Sanchez pitched in with two points.

Kim, Henry and Kenwood all made the all-tournament title.

Terry Ahn had a game-high 18 points for Troy, and Ryaan Khan provided 10 points in the loss.

Up next: The Bearcats travel to Upland (7-2) on Tuesday at 6:15.
