Girls Basketball:
Something had to give when a pair of undefeated programs met up Thursday night.
And it was La Salle that remained unbeaten, defeating Glendale, 48-35, in the semifinal round of the Arroyo Tournament.
For the first time this season, the Lancers trailed (24-21) at the half.
But La Salle outscored Glendale, 27-11 in the second half to pull away from the Nitros.
Audrey Chen had a game-high 20 points for the Lancers.
Both programs made four 3-pointers, and Glendale’s Sella Koshkerian, who finished with eight points, was the only player on either side with two 3-pointers.
Jane Bassil led the Nitros with 12 points.
Kaden Cortes chipped in 11 points, and Casey Higgins finished with 9 for the Lancers.
Up next: La Salle will face South Torrance on Saturday night at 7 for the Arroyo Tournament championship.
The game will be played at Arroyo High School.
