Girls Basketball:

Northview is off to a great to the 2022-23 season.

After Tuesday’s 50-38 victory at Bonita, the Vikings are now 3-0.

Kristin Morella had a game-high 22 points to go with her four assists and three steals.

Sammy Martinez contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Brooke Van Duyne led Bonita with 16 points, and Serenity Henderson chipped in with nine.

Up next: The Lady Vikings Bearcats will both be in action next Tuesday.

NHS faces Maranatha in the San Marino Tournament, and BHS will host Covina.

Quotable:

Northview coach, Danny Silva: “This was a huge win for us. We beat a well coached Bonita team. Coach Anderson always runs a great program and she has her girls ready night in and night out. We jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first quarter and that was the difference in the game. Our girls locked down defensively and made it difficult for them to get in a rhythm. Kristin and Sammy were huge for us and stepped up big when Alana Diaz got into foul trouble. It was a great team defensive effort. The girls came out ready to play and prove the doubters wrong. We still had a lot of silly mistakes that we need to clean up and learn from. We have to continue to learn and build from this. It is a long season.”
