Girls Athletes of the Week:
Not a bad way to start the 2022-23 season.
Glendora went 3-1 en route to a Silver Division title at the Villa Park Tournament.
While the Tartans got solid contributions throughout their lineup, it was Rylie Anderson and Hailey Schaffer that set the tone all week.
Rylie Anderson led GHS in scoring in three of their four games.
She had 22, 20, 11 and 18 in contests against Tustin, Portola, Los Alamitos and Hillcrest, respectively.
Anderson opened the first week of her junior campaign with 71 total points.
Hailey Schaffer earned all-tournament honors for her steady play at point guard.
Schaffer scored seven, 11, 13 and six points at the VP Tournament.
Perhaps even more important was the fact that the 5-foot-6 guard averaged eight assists and nine rebounds for the week.
Up next: GHS has the next 10 days off, and they’ll be back in action on 11/29 against San Marino.
