Girls Basketball:

The fact that Glendora claimed the Silver Division Title at the Villa Park Tournament on Saturday wasn’t the most impressive feat for Adam Nunemaker’s program.

It was how poorly they started and yet defeated Hillcrest, 48-40.

GHS scored one first-quarter point and trailed 14-1 early in the second quarter.

Nunemaker had a spirited halftime speech and his players responded.

GHS went on a 34-20, second-half surge, to defeat the Trojans.

Rylie Anderson had 18 points to lead the Tartans offensive attack.

Brianna Gomez chipped in with 11 points.

Hailey Schaffer ran the offense at PG, scored six points, and was named to the all-tournament team.

Jayda Wiltz led Hillcrest with 14 points.

Up next: GHS won’t be in action until Nov. 29, when they’ll face San Marino in tournament play.
