Glendora’s 2022 season came to an end in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 7 playoffs.
But the Tartans went down swinging.
Trailing 28-21 and with 24 seconds to play, GHS quarterback Eric Najarro found Decker DeGraaf on a 13-yard TD.
After Jack Norell converted on the extra-point attempt, the game was obviously headed for overtime, right?
Not so fast.
Mayfair drove all the way to the Tartans’ 3-yard line with two seconds to go.
It looked to be a gimme game-winning scenario, but GHS would block the field goal attempt and force overtime.
But that’s where Glendora’s good fortune ran out.
After Gerald Myles caught a 25-yard TD pass from Vontaye Rincon, the Monsoons would take a 35-28 lead.
The Tartans fumbled on their first offensive play in the OT period, and Mayfair will move on to the quarterfinal round.
Zach Ford carried the ball 15 times for 130 yards, and that included TD runs of 4 and 17 yards.
Najarro completed 18-of-27 for 266 yards and two TD’s.
Najarro had a 32-yard TD to Kyle Ferm before hooking up with Degraaf in the final seconds of regulation.
Ferm caught seven passes for 135 yards.
DeGraaf finished with five receptions for 69 yards.
The Tartans end the 2022 season at 4-7.
