Duenas Scores 5 Goals, as San Dimas Defeats Oxnard, 13-6, in D-5 Quarterfinal; Gonzalez Shuts Down Yellowjackets Offense

Boys Water Polo:

San Dimas had a long day on Saturday.

But it was worth every second.

The Saints took a 90-mile trip to Oxnard in the CIF-SS Division 5 quarterfinal round.

SDHS trailed by one goal after the first period.

San Dimas, however, would out-score Oxnard, 12-4, the rest of the way.

Anthony Duenas has a match-high five goals.

Diego Zazueta chipped in with three goals and Killian Pressley scored twice.

Nick Tatevossian, Travis Pang and Andon Hanson contributed one goal apiece in Saturday’s win.

Daniel Gonzalez was said to have played remarkably well in goal for the Saints.

In fact, the Saints junior held the Yellowjackets offense to less than half of their scoring average (13).

Up next: The Saints will face Buena Park on Wednesday.

The Coyotes (22-9) edged Xavier Prep, 8-7, on Saturday.
