San Dimas junior Abby Bernhard seems to play her best in the biggest matches.
Last year, she and Mila Mattson teamed up to claim the Valle Vista League doubles championship.
Fast forward one season, and Bernhard wanted to take a stab at singles competition.
Her lone loss of the 2022 fall season was to Paige Valenzuela from West Covina High School.
Valenzuela just happens to be the 2021 VVL singles champ.
Valenzuela had earned a spot in the VVL title match, and for Bernhard to get a chance to pay her back, she would need to defeat Northview’s Juliana Sanchez.
Bernhard made quick work of Sanchez, 6-0 and 6-0, to set up her title-match showdown with Valenzuela.
And Bernhard didn’t just beat Valenzuela, she dominated the Bulldogs star.
Abby won by scores of 6-2 and 6-0, which earned her the title of 2022 Valle Vista League singles champion.
