It’s hard to believe so much progress has been made in just one calendar year.
In 2021, the Marshall Fundamental girls volleyball program won three total matches all season.
Fast forward one year, and the Eagles have not only won 22 times, they’re also the Mission Valley League’s lone representative still alive in the CIF-SS playoffs.
Marshall swept Ganesha by scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-13.
On Monday, the Eagles host Desert Mirage in a second-round showdown.
The Rams (17-8) swept Acaciawood in their first-round contest.
In Thursday’s CIF-SS Division 9 opener, Marshall had several standouts, including Journey Blueford and Rory Lorenz.
Blueford, a senior middle blocker, had eight kills, three blocks and three digs.
Lorenz, also a senior middle blocker and captain, contributed eight kills, three aces and a block.
