Don’t let the final score fool you, Northview was in charge throughout Friday’s Valle Vista League contest at Diamond Ranch.
The Vikings took a 34-6 lead into the fourth quarter and went on to defeat the Panthers, 34-20.
Angel Barraza had a huge night, rushing for 98 yards on 12 carries.
And that included TD runs of 9, 27 and 12 yards.
Angel Barraza also caught a 40-yard TD pass from James Arellanes.
Julian Barraza made his mark, as he intercepted a D-Ranch pass and brought it back 72 yards for a TD.
Colin Chavez booted field goals of 31 and 26 yards for the Panthers.
And Diamond Ranch got a pair of late TD passes, one of which was a double pass to make the game look closer than it was.
Arellanes completed 6-of-11 for 127 yards, including the TD and an interception.
Dwayne Thompson caught two passes for 45 yards and Nathan Tome had one reception for 38 yards.
James Sanchez had a game-high 156 yards rushing for Diamond Ranch.
Sanchez also completed 16-of-38 pass attempts for 196 yards.
Sanchez hit Michael Hamilton on a 9-yard TD, but he was also picked three times.
Braylon Leal (6 catches for 112 yards) and Rico Rodriguez (7 for 108) combined for 220 yards receiving.
Adrien Gonzales and Donovan Perez had picks for the NHS defense.
Up next: Northview and San Dimas will meet up at Covina District Field on Friday for the Valle Vista League championship.
