Sep 15 2022 09:10:37

Girls Volleyball:

It took the Marshall Fundamental girls volleyball program a little while to find a rhythm on Wednesday afternoon at Rosemead.

The Eagles bus was 30 minutes late, and by the time they got to RHS, they only had time to gear up and get in a quick warm-up.

Marshall would go on to defeat Rosemead in four games.

They won by scores of 25-22, 23-25, 25-13 and 25-12.

Abigail Garibay had six kills, two aces and two blocks.

Journey Blueford contributed four kills and five blocks.

Alexis Delgado had a team-high nine kills and one block.

Rory Lorenz chipped in with eight kills and three blocks.8 kills

Quotable:

Marshall Fundamental coach, Jeffrey Thai: “We struggled coming out of the gate, but we finally started playing Marshall brand of volleyball in the last two sets. Our libero had another bad outing, so we will go into our first-round bye and evaluate if we need to make any changes there. We definitely need to be able to play on the road just as well as we do at home as we continue our long road trip. Our front row plays have been solid as our bigs continue to hit and block well. Another bright spot to this match is that two of our transfers cleared CIF’s sit-out rule and were finally able to get on the court and compete with the team.”

Up next: The Eagles travel to Mountain View (0-8, 0-1) on Monday afternoon at 3:30.

Records: Marshall Fundamental (12-5, 4-1); Rosemead (0-9, 0-2)
