College Football:

One week after scoring 69 points in the 2022 season opener, the Mt. SAC offense could manage just 13 points.

But that was more than enough, as the Mounties defeated visiting Saddleback, 13-7, on Saturday night.

Just six seconds into the second quarter, Diego Esqueda got MSAC on the board with his 29-yard field goal.

Those were the only first-half points for either program.

Jaden Allen would catch an 18-yard TD pass from Ike Udengwu III with 9:17 to play in the third quarter, and that extended the Mounties lead to 10-0.

Saddleback got its first and only score with 5:11 to play in the third period.

Jake Thomas caught a 29-yard TD pass from Dartanyon Moussiaux.

The two-point conversion attempt fell short, and the Mt. Sac lead was trimmed to 10-6.

Esqueda started the scoring and he would end it with a 32-yard field goal with 8:11 remaining in the game.

The MSAC defense was outstanding, allowing Saddleback just 155 yards of total offense.

Mt. SAC had a 41-19 advantage in the time of possession battle.

Moussiaux completed 7 of his 20 pass attempts for 73 yards.

He threw the one score, but was picked twice.

And the Mounties snared a Ryan Henderson pass as well.

Anthony Hebert, Mason White and Toalei Lefau accounted for the three interceptions by the MSAC defense.

Hebert already has three picks in two games.

Offensively for Mt. SAC, Udengwu completed 18-of-34 for 180 yards, including the one score and an interception.

Reaven Tribune had a game-high 110 yards rushing on 27 carries.

Udengwu carried the ball nine times for 83 yards.

Allen had nine catches for 83 yards and a TD.

Up next: The Mounties travel to San Bernardino Valley College next Saturday at 6.
