Girls Athlete of the Week:
Chayse Hoon and her teammates have Arcadia off to a great start in 2022.
The Apaches got swept by South Pasadena in their season opener.
Since then, however, AHS has won six consecutive and sit atop the Pacific League standings.
This past week, Arcadia grinded out a five-set victory over Maranatha.
In that match, AHS trailed 0-2 after the first two sets.
And three nights later, the Apaches defeated Burroughs for the first time in five years.
To make it even more satisfying, the AHS victory over the Bears came via sweep.
Hoon has played a starring role all season, and this past week was no different.
She had 30 kills and 10 blocks, but the Arcadia captain also makes contributions you could never see in a stat sheet.
Chayse’s coaches and teammates look to her when a match is on the line, and she hasn’t let them down.
Up next: Arcadia hosts Muir on Tuesday, and travels to Hoover on Thursday in a pair of Pacific League matches.
Quotable:
Arcadia coach, Stephen Bernabe: “She was all-CIF last year and is on track to continue that again this year. Our offense goes through her. She is one of our two captains and a person who has been on varsity the longest. I am enjoying her senior season run.”
