Glendora traveled to Charter Oak on Friday night in a game that showcased two SGV area power programs going in opposite directions to start the 2022 season.
Last week, the Chargers opened with a 14-point victory over the reigning D-10 champs from Northview.
And after defeating the Tartans, 37-7, COHS is now 2-0, and they’ve outscored their oppnents by a margin of 75-31.
In comparison, Glendora is off to their worst start in at least 18 years.
MaxPreps only dates back to 2004, and this is the first time over that stretch that GHS began a season 0-3.
The Tartans have been outscored, 85-24, versus Chino Hills, Pasadena and Charter Oak.
Luis Marin got the Chargers out to a 3-0 lead when he booted a 28-yard field goal.
GHS answered quickly, as Marquize Brown had a 55-yard run, and he followed that up with a 20-yard rushing TD to give the Tartans a 7-3 first-quarter lead.
The Charter Oak defense would hold the GHS offense scoreless the rest of the way.
Solomon Davis’ 5-yard TD reception from Richie Munoz gave COHS a 10-7 lead, and the Chargers would head into the break with a 17-7 advantage, thanks to Zakkarii Black’s 13-yard TD run.
Munoz put the game out of reach, hitting Black on a 17-yard score, and then Nathan Alvarado reeled in a 41-yard Munoz pass to extend the lead to 31-7.
Danny Orosco had a 2-yard scoring run in the fourth to cap the scoring for Charter Oak.
Brown carried the ball 23 times for 138 yards.
Up next: GHS will meet up with Los Altos on Thursday at Citrus College, and Charter Oak will host Chino Hills on Friday.
