Football:
After starting the season 0-2, and being outscored by El Rancho and Alta Loma by a combined margin of 60-40, Don Lugo picked up win No. 1 of the 2022 football season on Friday.
The Conquistadores thumped their visitors from Hawthorne, 40-0, and they scored via run, field goal, punt return and a pick-six.
Marquette Moore gave Don Lugo a 6-0 lead after bringing a punt back for a TD.
Mickey Aguilera would boot a 25-yard field goal with 4:41 to play in the first quarter to extend their advantage to 9-0.
Ayden Machado and Elijah Montijo scored on second quarter TD runs of 2 and 1 yard, respectively.
The Conquistadores enjoyed a 23-0 lead at the break.
Aguilera booted a 42-yard field goal with 3:47 to play in the third quarter.
Sam Plunkett would score on a 1-yard quarterback keeper with just over seven minutes to play.
And Marshall Anderson returned a pick of Hawthorne back for the final score of the night for Don Lugo.
Up next: Don Lugo will have the week off and then travel to Chino on Friday, September the 16th.
