Football:
Ayala was tested big time on Thursday night.
And thanks to a 40-33 victory, the Bulldogs passed that test against a gritty Leuzinger program.
AHS is now 3-0.
Ayala had 431 yards of total offense.
The best illustration of just how competitive this game was, is to consider that three of the four quarters were decided by just one point, and in the other, Ayala outscored Leuzinger, 6-0, in the second period, and took a 20-13 lead into the break.
Bryan Wilson completed 16 of his 33 pass attempts for 265 yards.
Wilson threw a 5-yard TD pass to Dominic Alloway, and the Bulldogs junior was picked once.
Lytallion Payne had four catches for 88 yards to lead the AHS receiving corps.
Payne had what would have been TD catches of 19 and 34 yards called back on penalties.
Drew Amico had four catches for 82 yards, and Dominic Alloway caught three passes for 54, including the TD.
The Ayala ground game carried the ball 35 times for 166 yards.
Marquis Monroe paced the Bulldogs with 120 yards rushing on 17 carries.
Monroe had TD runs of 3 and 28 yards, and he caught one pass for 10 yards.

Wilson had six carries for four yards and that included a 10-yard TD run.
Jacob Munoz gained 25 yards on seven carries.
Nick Lane hit crucial field goals of 22 and 31 yards.
Tommy Tucay had a huge pick-six for the Bulldogs.
Up next: Ayala will host Monrovia next Friday in a battle of 3-0 programs.
The high-flying Wildcats defeated El Rancho, 58-26, on Thursday evening.
