Jack Janes Hits for Cycle & Drives is 4; IE Bucs Defeat OC Pirates, 13-7, in Sunday’s Sunset League Regular Season Finale

Jack Janes sure picked a dramatic way to end the 2022 Sunset League regular season.

Janes hit for the cycle, scored four times and had four RBIs.

For the day, Janes went 5-for-5 with two singles, a double, triple and home run.

The Inland Empire Bucs defeated the first-place Orange County Pirates, 13-7, on Sunday.

The game featured a combined 20 runs, 31 hits and nine pitchers.

Matthew Pachuca got the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in one inning of work.

Pachuca walked two and fanned a pair of Bucs’ batters.

Billy Velasco singled, doubled twice, scored a pair of runs and drove in three.

Jared Gener went 4-for-4, with a double and three RBIs.

Joe Gilkeson walked twice, singled and had one RBI.

Benny Vogel tallied two singles and scored twice

Ryan Harlin and Jacob Fox singled and scored one run apiece.

Garret Damico walked, singled, drove in one run and scored twice.

The Pirates got three runs off Vincent Fuentes and Seth Wrightstone, and one run against Noah Milliman.

Jacob Fox went two scoreless innings for the Bucs on two hits.

He didn’t issue a walk and fanned four Pirates’ batters.

Nick Madole doubled, had two triples, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Ethan Rivers singled, doubled and had one RBI.

Rocco Caballero singled twice, doubled, drove in two and scored a pair of runs.

Isaac Ramirez hit a solo shot.

Alonso Reyes had an RBI double.

Cole Quillin doubled and scored.

Julian De Leon singled and scored, and Justin Roulston walked and scored.

The Bucs open the playoffs on Tuesday against the Arroyo Seco Royals at Cypress College.

The winner will face the top-seeded OC Pirates on Wednesday.
