The Inland Valley Pirates cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Ventura County Pirates on Wednesday night.
IVP is now 7-2 and they sit atop the Best of the West League standings.
They hold a 1.5 game lead over the second-place So Cal Shepherds (4-2).
Wyatt Johnson and Zac Czerniawski combined to go the distance on Wednesday.
Johnson went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits.
He walked two and struck out six VCP batters.
Czerniawski provided four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, walking one and fanning five.
Darren Taylor homered to drive in both runs.
Robbie Treto walked and scored.
Ethan Firestone, Ryan Camacho and Angelo Aleman singled in the loss.
IVP would get three runs on four hits off Daniel Parra, and Brandon Doehne got the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits over three innings.
Parra walked one and struck out one, and Doehne issued one walk and fanned two.
Anthony McFarland singled, tripled, scored and had two RBIs.
