Long Beach Picks Up First Best of the West League Victory; Legends Outlast Arroyo Seco Sentinels, 10-7, on Saturday

The Long Beach Legends got three runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Arroyo Seco Sentinels, 10-7, in Saturday’s Best of the West League game.

LBL out-hit the Sentinels, 10-6, to earn their first league victory of 2022.

Three Arroyo Seco errors cost the Sentinels six runs.

Long Beach would combine to score 10 runs on 10 hits off Jessie Espinoza, Coleman Mitchell and Jordan Townley.

In two innings of work, Espinoza allowed three unearned runs on two hits and a walk.

Mitchell went three innings and surrendered two runs on three hits.

Mitchell walked one and fanned four.

Townley was touched up for five runs (two earned) on six hits over four innings.

He walked four and struck out five.

Moises Guzman’s has been on a torrid streak at the plate.

On Saturday, Guzman walked, hit two home runs, scored three times and had four RBIs.

JJ Cruz singled, homered and drove in three runs.

Liam Taylor singled twice and scored three runs.

Michael Flaherty walked, doubled, and had one RBI.

Adam Stevens singled twice and scored.

Declan O’Hare walked three times and scored once.

The Sentinels scored six of their seven runs on eight hits against Sean Lovett and Julien Flores.

Lovett and Flores combined to walk seven and struck out six.

Antonio Andrade walked, singled and hit a solo HR.

Jacob Lopez doubled and scored.

Mikey Easter walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.

Jason Givens walked, singled and drove in a pair of runs.

Alex Bueno singled, scored and had one RBI.

Taer Rodriguez walked and scored in Saturday’s loss.
