Baseball:
Cade Nolan was nothing short of incredible on Tuesday afternoon.
The Aquinas senior was eight outs from a perfect game, but he’ll happily take a 5-0 victory over Flintridge Prep in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 4 playoffs.
Spencer Seid singled with one out in the top of the fifth, and that’s all the Wolves offense could muster.
Nolan didn’t issue a walk and struck out 10.
Of his 89 pitches, 57 were strikes.
Seid was the only Wolves’ batter that didn’t go down on strikes at least once.
Josh Beserra got the loss after allowing four runs on six hits over his four innings of work.
Beserra walked three and struck out one.
Graham DesHotel went two innings and allowed one run on three hits.
He walked two and fanned one Aquinas batter.
Nate Christman went 4-for-4, with a double, run and two RBIs.
Josh Torres walked, singled twice and had RBIs.
Landon Young singled twice and scored.
Jonathan Schmidt singled and scored.
Flintridge Prep has every reason to be proud.
The Wolves claimed the Prep League championship and their 20 wins is most for the program since 2016.
