Boys Volleyball:

Upland is now just one win away from earning a CIF-SS Division 3 championship.

On Saturday, the Highlanders extended their postseason sweep streak to four games.

UHS defeated Aliso Niguel by scores of 25-22, 26-24 and 25-23.

Kai Vogel had 11 kills and four aces.

Jordan Lucas contributed a match-high 16 kills.

Isaiah Vogel added five kills.

And AJ Contreras chipped in with four kills and five blocks.

Up next: UHS will travel to Royal on Saturday at 6 in the D-3 title game.

Royal (23-6), also the Highlanders, swept Laguna Blanca by scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-12.

Quotable:

Upland coach, Scott Robertson: “Since the playoffs have started, the boys have shifted their focus to be more business-like and serious. Last night was a tough match. The semifinals on the road is probably the toughest game during playoffs. The boys kept their focus and persevered through some tough moments. The crowd was electric and the team feeds off that. We should know tomorrow if our division will play at Long Beach City College. Royal has won the coin flip, so if our division is not chosen, we’ll be playing at Royal.”

Upland’s Playoff Schedule:
4/28: Upland swept El Segundo, 25-14, 25-10, 25-17
4/30: Upland swept Quartz Hill, 25-9, 25-21, 25-7
5/4: Upland swept Dos Pueblos, 25-19, 25-14, 25-17
5/7: Upland swept Aliso Niguel, 25-22, 26-24, 25-23
