Boys Athletes of the Week:
Kasen Khansarinia and Garrett Patterson played starring roles in a pair of CIF-SS Division 1 playoff games.
San Dimas claimed a 3-2 victory at Arcadia in 11 innings, and Bonita defeated visiting Damien, 6-1, on Friday.
Garrett Patterson ended Damien’s season with a complete-game effort in that 6-1 victory over the Spartans.
Patterson allowed one run on three hits, walked two and struck out seven.
Patterson threw 92 pitches and 64 were strikes.
He also drew a walk and had an RBI base hit to help his own cause.
Kasen Khansarinia and his boys wanted to pay Arcadia back for a 2-0 loss that dates back to February 24th.
And it took 11 innings, but the Saints picked up an enormous 3-2 road victory to advance to the second round.
Trailing 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning, Khansarinia hit a solo shot off Ian Hoffstetter, who has the second most wins (11) in the SGV, to tie the score at 2-2.
Six innings later, it was the SDHS sophomore who singled in the eventual game-winning run in the 11th.
Up next: Bonita will travel to top-seeded Orange Lutheran, and San Dimas welcomes Villa Park.
Both games are set for Tuesday afternoon.
