Girls Athlete of the Week:
Glendora dropped a pair of Palomares League games back in mid-April, which cost the Tartans a chance of a league title, and for all intents and purposes, a first-round home game.
On Thursday, GHS took a 52-mile ride to Santa Clarita to take on Hart (20-8) in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs.
And several Tartans came up huge in their 11-1 road victory, including Bridget Nemeth who went the distance in the circle, doubled, homered and had two RBIs.
Ganino, who has played an enormous role in Glendora’s success over the last few years, had a monster game offensively.
The GHS senior singled, doubled and hit a grand slam home run.
Ganino finished with a game-high five RBIs.
Haley also backs up Nemeth from time to time in the circle, and has a season record of 3-2, with a 2.70 ERA and 36 strikeouts.
Up next: GHS (18-9-2) will host Torrance on Tuesday.
The Tartars (22-7) picked up a 7-2 road victory at Rio Mesa.
The first pitch is slated for 3:15.
