Baseball:
Well, that was a pretty solid playoff opening performance for Maranatha.
The Minutemen rode the arms of Zach Strickland and Mikey Ebner and out-hit visiting Great Oak, 13-5, in Thursday’s 8-2 victory.
Strickland went four innings and allowed an unearned run on one hit.
Strickland walked a pair and fanned three Great Oak batters.
Ebner provided three innings and allowed one run on four hits.
Ebner didn’t issue a walk and struck out two.
Robert Ferrell singled, doubled and had an RBI.
Shea Lake singled and scored for Great Oak.
Lake would also get the loss.
He surrendered six runs (four earned) on eight hits over his 1/ innings.
Lake didn’t issue a walk and fanned a pair of MHS batters.
Bryan Richman singled, doubled, scored twice and had an RBI.
Angelo Aleman had a big day, with three hits, including a triple, three RBIs and two runs.
Adrian Lopez had an RBI single.
Issac Ton, Nick Cook and Ebner singled and scored one run apiece.
Cider Cannon went 2-for-4, with an RBI.
Dylan Zdunek singled and drove in a pair of runs.
Cam Andrews doubled and Judson Pitre scored once in Thursday’s win.
Up next: MHS will host Quartz Hill on Tuesday.
The Royals (21-8) defeated visiting Paraclete, 9-2, on Thursday.
