Loyola opened CIF-SS Division 4 play with a 10-0 victory at Montebello in a Division 4 wild card game.

Joey Frey threw a three-hit shutout and needed just 88 pitches to finish what he started.

Frey walked three and struck out six Montebello batters.

Adrian Roman, David Garcia and Tommy Mesa had one single apiece to account for the Oilers’ offense on Tuesday.

Mike Gonzalez got the loss, allowing seven runs on three hits in two-plus innings.

He walked four and fanned three Cubs batters.

Loyola got two more runs off Adrian Roman on five hits and three walks.

Adam Magpoc walked, singled, scored and had an RBI.

Tino Valdez doubled, scored a pair of runs and had three RBIs.

Luca DiPaolo singled and drove in two.

Walter Urbon went 2-for-4 and scored once.

James Dell’Amico walked, singled and scored.

Cameron Kennedy singled, had two RBIs and scored one run.
