Rio Hondo Prep Secures Outright Prep League Championship; Kares Improve to 11-0 After Friday’s 6-2 Victory Over Mayfield

It’s official.

The Rio Hondo Prep softball program earned the title of 2022 Prep League champions on Friday.

RHP defeated Mayfield, 6-2, and with one league game to go, the Kares have a two-game lead over second-place Providence.

And to add double icing on the cake, RHP improved to 11-0 in league games, and they handed the Pioneers their only two league losses this season.

Tatiana Foor went the distance to earn the win.

Foor surrendered a pair of unearned runs on six hits.

She walked one and struck out a pair of Cubs’ batters.

Maria Dilbeck walked, singled twice and scored for Mayfield.

Jamie Pernecky and Madilyn Domingo doubled.

Jaz Johnson and Penelope Pegram singled in the loss.

Jenna Domingo went the distance and allowed six runs (three earned) on six hits.

She didn’t issue a walk and struck out two RHP batters.

Foor helped herself out with a single, double, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Madison Metz doubled and drove in a game-high three RBIs.

Grace Pollock and Elle Curtis singled and scored one run each.

Raegan Johnson singled and Emma Carson scored once for the Kares.
