Baseball:
Charter Oak won its fifth consecutive Valle Vista League game on Wednesday.
Evan Avitia went five scoreless innings to earn the win.
Avitia allowed three hits, walked one and struck out five Diamond Ranch batters.
Gabriel Granados had an RBI single.
Rene Smith walked, singled and scored.
Giovanni Guerrero and Manuel Villa had two hits apiece for the Panthers.
Saul Parada got the loss, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits.
Parada went 4 1/3 innings, walked two and fanned one COHS batter.
Avitia walked and scored three runs for the Chargers.
Samuel Morales singled twice, scored and drove in four runs.
Anthony Vasquez and Diego Ortiz singled and scored one run each.
Chris Gonzalez singled twice and had one RBI.
Up next: Charter Oak travels to Diamond Ranch on Friday.
