Baseball:

Ten days after throwing a no-hitter in his first career start, Brady Ebel was back at it on Saturday.

And for the second time, Ebel took the mound following an Eagles’ loss.

On Wednesday, Etiwanda claimed game one of a three-game Baseline League series with Damien.

Yesterday, Seth Sumner shut down the Eagles bats to even the series.

And that gets us to Saturday morning.

Ebel would go the distance in a 3-1 Etiwanda victory, which allowed the Eagles to claim the first league series win of the 2022 season.

Ebel allowed one run on four hits, walked two and struck out eight Spartans’ batters.

Nikko Paoletto hit a solo HR in the second inning to account for the Damien run.

Julian Hines and Dominic Gomez singled and Nathan Hellein doubled for the Spartans.

Gavin Eddy went three innings for DHS and allowed one run on three hits.

He walked one and had a pair of strikeouts.

Justin Ries got the loss.

Ries went four innings and surrendered a pair of unearned runs on two hits.

Ries walked three and struck out three.

Oh, and if his complete-game victory wasn’t enough of a contribution, the freshman had two singles and drove in all three of Etiwanda’s runs.

Austin Roellig doubled and scored, and Armando Briseno walked twice, doubled and scored.

Up next: Etiwanda will host Los Osos, and Damien goes to Upland on Monday
