Girls Athletes of the Week:
Glendora picked up a pair of Palomares League victories this past week.
On Monday, GHS dropped a 9-6 decision to Chino Hills in a nonleague contest.
The Tartans would bounce back one day later, as they shut out visiting Claremont, 4-0.
And on Thursday, Glendora claimed an important 5-3 victory over Alta Loma.
The two Palomares wins, coupled with Ayala’s 10-run victory over previously unbeaten (in league) allowed the Tartans to pull within one-game back of the Bearcats.
Up next: GHS travels to Colony on Tuesday.
In Monday’s 9-6 loss to Chino Hills:
Nemeth: singled, doubled, scored one run and had three RBIs
Coleman: singled
Tuesday’s 4-0 victory over Claremont:
Nemeth: threw a three-hit shutout, didn’t issue a walk and fanned 16. She also singled and scored.
Coleman: singled, doubled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Friday’s 5-3 victory at Alta Loma:
Nemeth: scored one run
Coleman: had a two-run single, two-run HR, scored and finished with four RBIs.
Boys Basketball: Damien has earned itself a spot in the Sunny Hills Basketball Tournament.
