Kaleb Smith couldn’t have asked for a better way to end his high school career.
The Damien senior led the Spartans in scoring in the CIF State Division 1 semifinal and championship rounds.
Smith had a team-high 16 points in Tuesday’s 58-53 victory over visiting Crean Lutheran.
It was the Spartans second victory in 25 days over the 15th ranked team in the state.
But Smith saved his best for last.
On Saturday, the DHS small forward poured in a team-best 23 points in the 65-57 victory over Clovis North.
Smith was 9-of-11 from the field, including two 3-pointers.
He converted three of his four free-throw attempts.
Smith also tallied five rebounds, one assist and a steal inside Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center.
Damien finished the season with a record of 32-4.
