Baseball:
Daniel Chavez was going to make sure that Arcadia didn’t drop their first game of the season on his watch.
First, Chavez got the win after five innings of work, and allowing two runs on six hits.
He walked three and struck out three Muir batters.
Nicholas Choy earned the save with two perfect innings of relief, including one strikeout.
Makhi Clark singled and scored and Diego Huzar had an RBI double for the Mustangs.
Owen Grice got the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits.
Grice went five innings, walked three and struck out one AHS batter.
Secondly, Chavez helped his own cause with a two-run HR in the top of the first inning.
Devon Eskridge walked, singled twice and had an RBI.
Alex Dolan singled and scored a pair of runs.
Ari Nurhadi had an RBI base hit in the top of the sixth inning to give the Apaches a 4-2 lead.
Up next: Muir will host Rialto this morning (Saturday) in a doubleheader.
Arcadia welcomes Newbury Park today at 1.
